When do I need an emergency dental visit?
If you have an infection, often indicated by a toothache, swelling around any of your teeth and/or gums, and discharge from the inflamed area.
If you have had any recent trauma to your face, mouth, or teeth.
If any of your permanent teeth have been knocked out, chipped, or broken.
If you have serious swelling of the mouth or face that worsens over time.
If you are experiencing a severe toothache or facial pain that cannot be controlled by over-the-counter painkillers.
If any of your crowns, veneers, bridges, orthodontic braces, or dentures break.
If you develop a tooth abscess.
If you have continuous bleeding from your gums, or around a tooth.
If you have uncontrolled bleeding after a tooth extraction.

Dental emergencies are often resolved within one appointment; however, please note that occasionally certain procedures will take longer to complete and may require additional appointments. Your dentist will perform a dental examination at the beginning of the visit to determine the most appropriate course of action. If your condition involves further repair, your dentist will discuss the complete course of treatment with you and help you book another appointment. Please be sure to discuss your treatment options with your dentist and follow-up appointments before leaving your emergency visit.
